LSFD Spokesperson: Tabitha Navarro
The Los Santos Fire Department's fourth recruitment drive of 2020 has just reached its conclusion. We saw a total of thirty (30) applicants this drive, and of those thirty, twenty-four (24) were pushed through to the academy process. Each recruit is required to go through ten (10) weeks of training to receive their Basic Life Support (BLS) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. They must then go through another ten weeks of rigorous training to receive their Firefighting certification. Once all of their classes have been completed, the recruits move on to take their examinations. These exams push each recruit to the limit, as they put their twenty weeks of training to the test, and see if they are qualified to become an official Firefighter-EMT for the Los Santos Fire Department.
Of the twenty-four recruits who went through our academy, we saw nine (9) graduate and move on to become probationary Firefighter-EMTs. Please join us in welcoming the class of 4-20!
I'd also like to take a moment to mention Firefighter III, Amethyst Hayes for receiving the Firefighter of the Month Award. Firefighter Hayes is a dedicated member of the department, often taking on several extra shifts to ensure all of our probationary firefighters receive training around the clock, no matter what time of the day it is. She is also in the department's Training and Support Bureau, and works along side of the recruits during those twenty weeks of required classes. Thank you Firefghter Hayes for all that you do, it does not go unnoticed!
